Elder Abuse Program

Elder Advocates offer support and services including crisis intervention, safety planning, legal options counseling, orientation to the justice system, referrals to the District Attorney’s Office and other related community services. This is accomplished through presentations, meetings and one-on-one visits to churches, synagogues, senior care housing projects and other senior populated environments. The Elder Advocates also provide non-elder community awareness of elder abuse, assist in the training of law enforcement to better enable them to identify and prosecute abusers and provide systems advocacy to assist in overall system change as it relates to care of the elderly in abusive situations. The Womansplace Elder Advocacy Program seeks to identify and provide supportive counseling to victims of elder abuse.
